Karen: “I am so impressed with the lemons on that lemon tree.”
Karen: “I mean, there are hardly any limbs left, but there are like a hundred lemons. And they’re lemon-shaped! That’s the best part.”
For who knows how many years, this poor old lemon tree was pruned away from an ill-advised arbor. So that when we removed said arbor, the tree was a twisted, tangled mess of criss-crossing branches dotted with mutant-shaped lemons — seriously. Bob took a deep breath a couple of months ago and pruned and pruned and pruned until only the right-growing limbs were left and there was some semblance of a balanced shape. That, some kind words of support, and a bucket of organic citrus fertilizer were all we could really offer it. So far so good.
